So! Review time! Elite Sports is an exercise gear company specializing in a lot of high quality, useful gear like hoodies and joggers, targeted mostly at fight sports enthusiasts, but useful for any fitness buff. They reached out to me and sent me a pair of Momentum Cargo Joggers, which I really wanted to check out because I’ve been looking for workout pants with some decent pockets.
Pockets Save My Day
See, I face a problem if I’m going to go for a bike ride or a jog or a workout outside, or even a walk around the neighborhood. I’m diabetic, so I can’t just leave with nothing on me. I need to have gels or glucose tabs or something on me.
I’m also not a psycho, so I bring my phone and my keys. 🙂 Usually I bring another carb source too, especially if it’s a longer run/bike/walk/whatever. With all of my workout pants, though, there’s only two hip pockets.
The Momentum Cargo Joggers solve that really well. They’re still super comfortable workout pant material that I can actually move in, but they have the pockets I need.
Especially handy are the zippers. The right hip pocket has a zipper and that’s great because sometimes I like to bring a credit card rather than my whole wallet – just in case I need to buy more carbs! Well the last time I went for a run out in California and brought my credit card, I lost it! Having the zippered hip pocket really helps.
Considerations for Warm Weather
I picked the Momentum Cargo Joggers because of the pockets, but there is one thing you need to know – they’re pretty heavy duty and think compared to a lot of workout pants. This makes them really great as warm ups (you want to keep your legs warm after all) and pretty good for cooler weather. But I can’t imagine taking a run in this in any kind of heat.
They’re not quite warm enough for the super cold, though, so when I went out with them in the cold weather, I still wore tights. That’s just something to keep in mind for this particular model. Elite has a lot of other models of jogger so for warmer weather, I’d shop around a bit.
One Tiny Complaint
I really think these Momentum Cargo Joggers are cool and they’re definitely in my gear drawer for good know. I only have one tiny complaint. The two cargo pockets are zippered (that’s awesome) but the zipper opening is only barely big enough to put my whole hand in the pocket. I kind of have to squeeze in there. Now I’m not a big guy, so if your hands are any bigger than mine, you might have trouble there. Perhaps bigger sizes come with bigger openings? I do wish that opening was just a little bigger.
But that’s a minor complaint, and I still think these joggers are pretty damn cool.
Overall Badass Joggers
Overall, I love these pants. As a trainer (even part time) and person who works out every single day, I basically live my life in workout pants. These guys are soft, comfortable, keep me mobile, and like I said they’re a bit thicker and warmer than my other pants, which is actually quite a help in the winter months.
They’re solidly made, and one good/bad thing: the string caps are made of metal. That is AWESOME because string caps usually break and let the string fray – it can be a nightmare. These aren’t doing that. The bad part about them is – they make noise in the dryer LOL – I’ll live with that.
I’m very happily surprised at the quality of this pair of pants – I hadn’t heard of Elite Sports before now, and I’m sold – they’re really great. And you know I would totally pan their asses if they weren’t good. I give zero effs about that – so they’re legit good!
So there you have it – my review of Elite Sports Momentum Cargo Jogger. Now get back to the gym!
